Grey.jpg

Grey Over an Autumn Winter

(2006) Michael Mazzarella's first solo album borrows the seasons of autumn and winter for a backdrop to this sparse and intense effort. Musically heartbreaking at times and lyrically poetic. For those who like long walks on cloudy days.

Wishing.jpg

A Wishing Well by The Rooks

(1999) A four-piece rock band with trumpets, cellos, oboes, pianos, organs, electric sitar, harmonies and oh, a lot of great songs. Classic and highly acclaimed.

The Rooks

(1993) Debut album that placed The Rooks on the map.

Mercury In Lemonade by Icecream Skyscraper

(2015) Rock with psychedelic flavors, harmonies and a giant backbeat. The result of a unique songwriting collaboration between two power pop icons, guitarist Huw Gower (The Records) and vocalist Michael Mazzarella (The Rooks). Whilst referencing the trailblazing bands of the 60s, the end result is uniquely a creation of the second decade of the 21st century.

Soda.jpg

Soda Pop Gramophone

(2010) Soda Pop Gramophone is Michael Mazzarella's third solo album. This rainbow blast-of-colors sound scape shows Michael at his melodic best. Whimsical, sad, uplifting, hopeful and musically beautiful.

The Rooks: From the Shelves of Soundscape Studio

(2002) Rarities and outtakes. A collection of rare and unreleased recordings selected from The Rooks' Soundscape Studio era. This now defunct New York City recording studio was home to The Rooks between 1990 - 1996 before closing its doors forever. Included here are alternate takes and/or drastically different mixes of such band classics as "Reasons," "In A Pinwheel Spin" and more. The booklet contains extensive liner notes explaining details for each selection. 18 tracks. A must for collectors.

Methods.jpg

Methods of a Mad Rook

(1997) A songwriter in the true sense of the word. Mazzarella's lo-fi, monophonic sound-on-sound home demos sparkle brighter than many polished major label mishaps. It's all in the writing. Honest and passionate.

Broken.jpg

Want One? by The Broken Hearts

(1985) (2003 - CD Reissue with Bonus Tracks) For fans of early Marshall Crenshaw, The Beat, and Mersey-inspired rock 'n roll. Before going on to mastermind the acclaimed NYC power pop band, The Rooks, Michael Mazzarella sharpened his teeth in the 80's in Hartford, CT with The Broken Hearts. Originally released as a vinyl LP in 1985 with 9 songs, Paisley Pop reissued this nearly forgotten gem, a collector's piece amongst pop fans, for the first time on CD, along with an expanded booklet and 11 BONUS TRACKS.

Laureltide.jpg

Love in Laureltide Green

(2013) Mazzarella’s concept for the Love in Laureltide Green album was simple: Each song represented a fictitious resident living in a make-believe town. Much of the talk in Laureltide Green is heard in addled whispers by way of fair-weather back-fence prattle. Despite the town's enchanting name, a sour grapevine droops withered and low like a noose around its gardens and walkways. Dysfunction hangs gently in the perfumed air...

Few.jpg

Folk Songs for the Curious Few

(2008) Recorded on a throwback eight-track recorder, Mazzarella's 10 songs prove that sometimes simple is best. Folk Songs For The Curious Few: Written for the inquisitive plenty. A collection of original songs steeped in the old tradition. Ballads, hymns and odes are delivered using simple guitars, piano, organ and sparse drumming.

EncoreEchoes.jpg

Encore Echoes by The Rooks

(2000) THE definitive introduction to this beloved and critically acclaimed band. A great compilation that places the bulk of The Rooks' output onto one disc. Along with the band's debut album are the tracks from the out-of-print (and almost impossible to find) A DOUBLE DOSE OF POP and CHIMES releases.

Chimes by The Rooks

(1995) This EP finds Mazzarella continuing to wax introspective, with melancholy, playful, and ethereal pop songs.
